Start with your ideal cruise
This time, we spoke to the person in charge of organizing a new employee welcome party cruise held by a video production company in Tokyo about the background to the event and what it was like on the day.
In the past, new employee welcome parties have often been held at a rented out seaside BBQ venue, but this time, they chose to go on a cruise for the first time, as they wanted to give the new employees a different experience.
Please tell us about the purpose of this cruise.
Our company has always had a homey atmosphere, so we wanted to create an event where new employees could easily fit in and where everyone could have fun together.
We had never held a welcome party for new employees on a cruise before, but we wanted to welcome them in a different atmosphere than usual, so we chose a cruise for the first time.
Were there any points that you were particularly conscious of or particular about during the planning stage?
Until now, I haven't paid much attention to the atmosphere of the venue, but this time I wanted to create a slightly more luxurious and extraordinary atmosphere.
A seaside barbecue is a standard event, but this time the theme was "something different from usual" and "something a little special."
How did you feel when you actually chose a cruise with a barbecue?
I am very satisfied!
As I wrote in the survey, the hamburger steak that came out at the end was especially popular, with many people saying that it was the most delicious.
Were there any memorable events or exciting moments?
We played a card game called "The Ha Game."
This is a game where you make statements based on a theme that specifies an emotion or situation, such as "saying thank you in a cute way," and the goal is to guess which theme it is.
What was particularly impressive was when a staff member jumped in and joined the game. It was a completely unreasonable request (lol), but they were happy to accept and I was really grateful.
The distance between everyone suddenly became closer, and it was a moment when a sense of unity that is unique to cruising was born.
Was there a moment when you felt the unique benefits of cruising?
Even before the departure, there were already voices of surprise and excitement, such as "Wow, we're going to be riding on this?", and I think an extraordinary feeling was created from the start.
After boarding, the participants enjoyed the luxury of enjoying a meal while watching the changing scenery, which naturally brought smiles to their faces.
The "scenic setting" that you can't experience at regular drinking parties made this event even more special.

To be honest, cost was the most important factor.
This was our first cruise welcome party, so we were looking for a plan that could be realized within our reasonable limits, and the concierge was very helpful and flexible in making suggestions.
In the end, we were able to get a plan that was perfectly within our budget, which was very helpful.
How was the staff's response and support?
It was very good.
What impressed me was how cheerful and happy the staff were, which allowed us to proceed with the operation in a relaxed manner without feeling nervous.
In particular, the most senior employee in the company said, "The staff were really great," which conveyed the high level of satisfaction.
Overall, I think the support from the crew and organizers made it a safe and secure event for participants.
Do you plan to use cruising for other purposes in the future?
Next time I'd like to try a bigger boat.
