Spots you can see along the course

Azumabashi
Because it was located east of Edo, it began to be called "Higashibashi" (East Bridge), and later officially renamed "Azumabashi." During floods, many bridges over the Sumida River were washed away, but this powerful bridge remained intact!
駒形橋
This bridge was built as part of the reconstruction plan after the Great Kanto Earthquake. The name Komagata is said to come from the Komagata Hall, which was built to enshrine the Bato Kannon, a statue of the Bodhisattva of Mercy, and is part of Sensoji Temple.
Umabashi Bridge
A stable where horses and cows are kept is called an "umaya." The bridge was named after the stables for pack horses that were located on the west side of the bridge.
Kuramae Bridge
Kuramae was named after the rice storehouse of the Edo Shogunate. Speaking of rice, rice is rice. The bridge is yellow, reminiscent of rice husks, and it stands out against the blue sky.
両国橋
This bridge includes the Ryogoku Junction on the Metropolitan Expressway. It was named Ryogoku Bridge because it was located on the border between Musashi and Shimousa provinces until the border was changed in 1686.
新大橋
This historic bridge was the third to be built over the Sumida River. It survived the Great Kanto Earthquake and served as an evacuation route, saving many lives.
Cheongju Bridge
This bridge was constructed as part of the reconstruction efforts following the Great Kanto Earthquake. It was designed as a suspension bridge to complement the arched Eitai Bridge.
Sumida River Bridge
Built during the construction of Metropolitan Expressway Route 9, it is divided into two levels, upper and lower. It is the only two-level bridge over the Sumida River!
Eitai Bridge
It was the fourth bridge built over the Sumida River in 1698 to celebrate Tokugawa Tsunayoshi's 50th birthday. It's a great spot to see the Skytree.
Chuo Bridge
This stylish bridge, a symbol of Chuo Ward, was built during the height of the bubble economy. It was designed by a French design company.
佃大橋
This bridge connects Tsukuda and Shintomi-cho. It has a large elevation difference and is a difficult section of the Tokyo Marathon!
Kachidoki Bridge
This movable bridge opens from the center upwards and is a designated national important cultural property! It was designed to accommodate ships of up to 3 tons.
